March for Science/Climate March

March for Science/Climate March

*Hosted by the Guam Nature Alliance*

Please join us for a peaceful March between Chamorro Village and Alupang Tower on 4/22/17 in celebration of Earth Day.

Science affects each of us in so many ways: from the medical advances that save lives to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) programs that advance engineering and space capacities; to cleaning up environmental pollutants so young people will have nature to enjoy; to understanding the microscopic, botanical and wildlife components that are systemic, synergistic and essential to our survival. These realities are deeply intertwined and need to be preserved.

Global climate change and the effects on our land, oceans and species survival are real and the empirical evidence is overwhelming. Science is real, critical, vigorously tested and in need of a voice. Our voice.

In honor of Earth day, we would also like to request participants bring a garbage bag and gloves to pick up garbage along the route. At the end of the March, those who have inclination, will go through and separate recyclables.

We will assemble at 4:00pm at the Chamorro Village parking lot and will depart sharply at 4:15pm. The route is roughly 1 1/4 miles long each direction and our turnaround point will be at parking lot below Alupang Towers. Anyone who appreciates the values of science and the importance of our environment is encouraged to attend. All are welcome and we hope to see you there!
